The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, to prevent fraudulent operations involving central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) within the Kyrgyz Republic, warns citizens that the digital som has not yet been launched and is not currently a legal tender.

Currently, the National Bank is in the process of selecting a platform and is working on promoting draft laws regarding the legal status of the national digital currency – the digital som. The proposed bill sets the date for implementation as "January 1, 2027."

We urge citizens to stay vigilant and not fall for misleading information circulating in various messenger groups (WhatsApp, Telegram channels, etc.) regarding the digital som.
