We are proud to announce that Bakai Bank has officially joined the United Nations Global Compact — the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, uniting thousands of companies and organizations committed to advancing sustainable development.
By joining the Global Compact, we have pledged to uphold its Ten Universal Principles, which promote human rights, fair labor standards, environmental responsibility, and anti-corruption efforts.
Umut Abakirova, Chairperson of the Management Board of Bakai Bank, commented:
“Becoming a member of the UN Global Compact is another important step in integrating global best practices into our corporate governance, social responsibility, and sustainability strategy. We firmly believe that a strong ESG agenda and adherence to international standards are key drivers of long-term business resilience and growth.”
It is worth noting that even prior to joining the UN Global Compact, Bakai Bank had actively pursued sustainability-oriented initiatives and programs aimed at supporting socially vulnerable groups. One such example is our “25 Years – 25 Good Deeds” project — a milestone initiative that showcased our ongoing commitment to community well-being and social impact. While these efforts were not formally part of the Global Compact, they have long reflected our dedication to corporate social responsibility and national development.
Joining the UN Global Compact opens new doors for international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and further reinforces our role in promoting the sustainable economic development of Kyrgyzstan.
